Informational Interviews:

My final professional objective that I created for myself was sparked from one of our assignments in my University's ITR 304 course that corresponds with this site. In the course, I was assigned to find a career mentor to interview (first attachment in the left column) as well as do an informational interview with someone who holds a job we may find interesting (first attachment in the right column). I decided to take these assignments one step further. I am working at the global headquarters of a company who has thousands of employees worldwide, why should I limit myself to just a select couple of people to interview? Therefore, my objective was to effectively and efficiently conduct numerous informational interviews with an array of professionals throughout the company. Below is a list of the professionals I interviewed as well as attachments that outline whatI have written up of their responses to my interview questions.

This personal goal that I set for myself has been the most beneficial thus far out of all my other objectives. I have had the opportunity to sit down and network with different professionals all throughout our building and in doing so have learned how certain departments contribute to the comapny as a whole as well as listen and learn of careers that I very well may be interested in. My process for the interviews were simple: network, network, network. I talked to my supervisors at first to get recommendations of individuals they believed would be good resources to talk to. From there, just about every person I interviewed gave me more suggestions of people who would be worth meeting. I interviewed professionals that correspond with my major, professionals who have a career that does not correlate to my major at all but are a crucial part of this company, and I met with professionals just simply to learn; to learn exactly what their department does as well as what their career is all about. The most facinating part of meeting with all these wonderful people was to learn all of their paths on how they got to where they are today.
